First ICANN Board public meeting after my election as a Board member was the 18th AGM ICANN Public meeting, which was the 57 public meeting, organized in Hyderabad India from 3-9 Nov 2016.
The Board of ICANN meets in a board workshop a few days before the public meeting to discuss and prepare the meetings that the board will conduct during the week-long public meetings. The first day of the workshop begins generally with meetings of the Board Committees and Board Working Groups. The second and third days are dedicated to the presentation of the CEO Report and the briefing by the ICANN Org Execs on the policy issues.
The public meeting begins usually with the opening session in the morning of the first day, where speeches are given by the ICANN CEO, the ICANN Chair, and a representative from the local host country. The board spends a day during the week to have joint meetings with each of SO/AC to discuss issues imortants of each of the constituencies.
The other key moment of the public meeting is the public forum. Two public forums are organized during the week in which, community members stand up in front of a mic and ask the board a question, give a comment or raise any concern that they feel important.
