World Bank Spring Meetings 2026

What a week. The World Bank Spring Meetings consistently concentrate global attention in Washington, bringing together decision-makers, practitioners, and experts across sectors. The formal agenda is only part of the picture. The real value often emerges in the dense layer of side events, where current challenges are debated more candidly and operational perspectives take shape.
This week, I had the opportunity to engage in several discussions focused on AI and its governance, across platforms including the WB-IMF Spring Meetings, The Digital Economist, Semafor World Economy, and the Mastercard–Devex Impact House.
A clear signal is emerging. The conversation is shifting from principles to implementation, from high-level frameworks to concrete questions of accountability, oversight, and control.
These moments of convergence matter. They shape not only how AI is understood, but how it will ultimately be governed.
